  • MIAMI BEACH - Some of the world's best competitive sailors from Australia, Bermuda, Germany, Italy, Japan, Monaco, Sweden, Spain, and the US enjoyed seven days of predominantly heavy-air racing at the Melges 32 World Championships off Miami Beach. Under the leadership of principal race officer Anderson Reggio, Coconut Grove Sailing Club once again proved it is the "little club that could" by providing world class race management for a highly competitive fleet. • MIAMI BEACH - Professional sailors have traditionally been a rarefied breed. With the growing popularity of televised events like the America's Cup, and of spectator racing in Europe, however, Australian Barry Cuneo of Envy Scooters may be at the leading edge of a tipping point. His mission, to develop young sailors that are so good, he looses them to the competition. The current crop, pictured here keeping the boat flat and fast in heavy air, wrapped up the Melges 32 World Championships on Miami Beach on December 7th and will be back in the Spring.
