The same nutrient-rich currents that help the Galapagos teem with marine life also affect visibility. Knowing what to look for helps. This sea turtle moved at a leisurely pace as I swam at a distance to capture its image with a point-and-shoot underwater camera's zoom. Other images imprinted on my psyche but not on camera - the silouette of a shark, and moving away from what appeared to be dust cloud underneath me. It turned out to be a sting ray.
